"Holy Family is not just our name, it's who we are."

Pillars of Lent

LENTEN SEASON

As the Season of Lent is quickly approaching with Ash Wendesday on March 6th, we are called to dive deeper in our faith through prayer, fasting, and alsmgiving over the next 40 days of Lent.

As the Gospel of Mark (1:12-15) tells us, “…the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts;” we must then take these 40 days of Lent as Christ did, with the strength to battle our wild beasts as our prayers cry out to the angels.

"Matthew writes, "...whenever you fast, do not look dismal like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so as to show other that they are fasting. ...put oil on your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret." (6:16-18).

The only place you will find the 3 Pillars of Lent together are emphasised in the book of Tobit, "pray with fasting is good, but better than both is almsgiving with righteousness" (Tobit 12:8), "it is better to give up alms that to lay up gold." Almsgiving is greater than prayer and fasting because it IS prayer, and it INVOLVES fasting .This form of prayer is "giving to God," Christ tells us that WHEN we give alms, we should not let our left hand know what our right hand is doing (Matthew 6:2-3).

Open your hearts this Lenten Season to hear what it is the Lord is calling on your to bring to the Table.

Welcome to our Parish!

"And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd." John 10:16.

As our Shepherd has told us, we must bring them also to heed my voice; so there shall be one flock. We welcome all to join our flock and spread the Word of the Lord to all those who listen. Join us as we welcome those that are not of this fold.

Our Mission as a Church:

The Holy Family Faith community is called to live out the mission of Jesus Christ. Empowered by God, through Baptism, and centered in Eucharist. We strive to proclaim the Good News of Salvation, building a community, serving the needs of others, celebrating our faith, and welcoming all in one Spirit of Christ.
